What advantages does our program have?

• The IT Management program prepares students for positions in technology, networking, and other information management positions in business, industry, and education. Graduates will have the knowledge, experience, and skills to succeed in technology-related careers and the business and management competencies for mid-management positions such as information network and intranet administrators, webmasters, applications developers, technology project managers, and information systems managers.
• Students are able to work with faculty on grant-funded research.
  
• The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a technology based campus. The key to UMC's success of providing a notebook computer for every student and faculty member has been the integration of technology into the curriculumn across every academic discipline. The clear achievement has been the combination of ubiquitous, unlimited access, and total immersion in a technology-rich environment. This brings students, faculty, and academic content together in a new and comprehensive way.
• Academic initiatives with technology companies like Microsoft provide access to leading industry software free of charge, while providing the chance to work with that software directly.
• Internships are designed to apply classroom knowledge and for networking with potential employers.
• In addition to traditional classroom experiences, students may take various courses to prepare for Microsoft Application certification.
• Students choosing to major in some other academic area may also chose to minor in Information Technology Management. An information technology management minor gives students a general background in technology, computer applications, services, and systems.
• UMC also offers a certificate of Health Informatics for Software Engineers and IT Professionals.

Student Club

• IT Professionals Club
  ITM majors gain additional experience through the IT Professionals Club. In addition to providing a venue for fun and peer socialization, this student organization strengthens the ITM student's entire college experience. The group meets on a regular basis to discuss and learn about emerging technologies. They also travel on field trips to various technology based companies and industries.
