Crookston Students for Sustainable Development (CSSD)

Mission
The Crookston Students for Sustainable Development (CSSD) is commissioned by the Crookston Student Association (CSA) and will serve as the student group for exploration, research and collaborative conception of a number of sustainability initiatives for our campus and community.

What can students do now to help with sustainability?

  • Turn off the TV and video games
  • Always recycle
  • Unplug & turn off everything
  • Short or cold showers
  • Go to bed earlier
  • Go outside
  • Get educated and attend sustainablity presentations and speakers

 

Student Support & Projects

  • Recycle Mania LogoRecycleMania!
  • Helped establish the first LEED certified building on the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus.
  • Established Maroon, Gold, and Green recycling stations policy and all campus recycling is handled by Delta Theta Sigma (DTS) volunteers, a student organization
  • Started the Communal Wind and Recycling Project with the Red Lake Nation (SIFE)
  • Worked on the Freshman Orientation green component
  • Possible $20,000 grant through CERTS Minnesota Schools Cutting Carbon Program.
