POLICY STATEMENT

BACKGROUND CHECKS

Effective Date: March 1, 2010

 

The University of Minnesota, Crookston recognizes that conducting background verification and reference checks on final candidates is an important component of the overall selection process. Verifying the accuracy of information provided by candidates helps hiring authorities make employment decisions based on factual data.

Job offers for all newly hired faculty, administrators, and staff members are contingent upon a successful background check verifying accuracy of degrees, certifications, licensures, past employment history, criminal record, and other job-related requirements. The decision to conduct background checks for volunteers and student employees will be made by the appropriate department head.
