News
and information regarding negotiations between the University of
Minnesota and the University Education Association-Crookston
These
are important times for the University of Minnesota and for the
Crookston Campus. President Bruininks is empowering over two dozen
task forces to carry the University-wide strategic planning effort
through its next phase. As a result of this work, UMC will begin
its next 100 years as a better and stronger institution.
“Confronting
Reality”are words, spoken frequently by Provost Sullivan
which helped frame his leadership of the University’s Strategic
Positioning effort. We acknowledge that the University of Minnesota
and the University Education Association-Crookston may have differing
perspectives on what realities must be confronted and how best
to do so. As we progress through this process, we are committed
to honest and good faith negotiations.
Philosophy
- In every aspect of our mission, the University of Minnesota
is committed to serving the public good. UMC, as an undergraduate
institution, exists – first and foremost – for its
students. It is because students choose to entrust us with their
education that we have the opportunity to do the work we love.
Providing students the best possible undergraduate experience
is both an honor and an obligation, and it the best assurance
of a bright future for our campus. We approach these negotiations
with the well-being of the institution and all of its stakeholders
in mind, but students give us our reason for being.
