and information regarding negotiations between the University of

Letter
to UEA - December 8, 2005

Dear Gary,
I was pleased
to receive your e-mail dated November 21, 2005, wherein you suggested
we meet and talk about the "workload" for the Crookston
faculty and how it differs from the workload at UMD.
We would
very much like to continue bargaining with the UEA and reach agreement
on a new contract for the Crookston faculty. Our team is available
to meet on December 16th beginning at 9:00. We understand that
such a meeting means we are back at the negotiating table and
each party will bringing forward proposals to negotiate terms
and conditions of employment specifically for the faculty on the
Crookston campus. We suggest that the parties could repackage
or reorder the previously identified packages, as well as agree
to additional negotiating dates.
This agreement
to come back to the bargaining table in no way changes our position
that the current contract governing the faculty on the Duluth
campus does not automatically apply to faculty on the Crookston
campus. We continue to believe that both parties have an obligation
to negotiate in good faith as to the terms and conditions of employment
of the Crookston faculty.
I am confident
the parties can make progress on these terms and conditions of
employment when we get back to the bargaining table next week.
Sincerely,
Patti Dion
