Update - June 9, 2006
On Friday,
June 9, the University of Minnesota, Board of Regents met and
approved the first contract between the University and the UEA
on behalf of Crookston faculty. The contract goes into effect
immediately with Board of Regents approval and continues through
June 30, 2006. The new agreement includes specific language on
compensation and grievance procedures, while University policy
remains in effect on all other matters.
Negotiations
on a contract for the period between July 1, 2006 and June 30,
2009 will resume as soon as possible. Both parties are now discussing
mutually agreeable dates in July and August. On May 4, the University
presented a list of Crookston specific topics it wishes to negotiate
with UEA, including:

The list
of negotiable items may be modified by either party as negotiations
proceed. As has been the case since the beginning of negotiations
in the summer of 2005, the University believes that both representatives
of UMC management and UMC faculty should be present and engaged
in the discussions when UMC specific issues are presented and
negotiated at the bargaining table.
The
