News
Update - October 22, 2006
Representatives from University administration and University Education Association met for two days last Friday and Saturday. The focus of the weekend's discussion was on faculty workload with an emphases placed on discussion of protocols to be used in determining workload. Prior to this meeting a joint labor and management workgroup had been formed to address protocols issues. The workgroup opened the discussion by identifying issues upon which agreement was reached and those where a dispute remained. The parties continued to discuss protocol issues and were unable to reach a final resolution at this work session.
The parties were successful in reaching an agreement on student evaluation of teaching and much progress was made on the issue of distance education. The parties also had a detailed discussion regarding the language to address faculty discipline. The University will be providing a counter proposal on this topic at our next meeting.
