Re: Crookston
Faculty Compensation Adjustment
Gentlemen:
We received
the documents dated October 7, 2005 that you delivered to the
Board of Regents’ Office alleging a violation of the UEA
contract with respect to the Crookston faculty compensation adjustments.
As I stated in my September 12th and September 27th letters to
you, we cannot accept these materials. The current UEA contract
is between the University and the represented members of the Duluth
faculty, and as the contract states, its purpose to promote and
govern the relationship between the “Regents and the University
Education Association acting on behalf of the faculty at the University
of Minnesota, Duluth (“UMD”).” Since the Crookston
faculty is not a party to the contract that was negotiated by
the University and the UEA in 2003, the grievance process set
forth in that contract is not automatically available to the Crookston
faculty. One of the important items for discussion as part of
the current negotiations between the University and the UEA is
an appropriate grievance procedure for Crookston faculty newly
represented by UEA, and we welcome the opportunity to negotiate
regarding this important subject.
Please do
not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or wish
to discuss this matter further.
Very truly
yours,
Patti Dion
