DEPARTMENT HEAD (WITH FACULTY RANK)
Liberal Arts and Education Department

POSITION:
The Department Head reports to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and holds faculty rank concurrently with the term of appointment. The Department Head is the chief administrative officer and appointing authority responsible for a department organized for teaching, research, and service. The Department Head is expected to provide strong leadership and vision for growth, be active in professional organizations, and contribute to the department and the field while functioning as administrator in the department. Salary and benefits package is competitive. This is a full-time, 12-month, annual renewable position (nine-month appointment with three-month summer augmentation). Start date is by July 1, 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter, depending on availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the department in a manner consistent with the principles of shared governance and the negotiated agreement; provide leadership in curriculum development; advocate for department faculty and research in the department; promote and maintain a high-quality learning environment for diverse on-campus and online students; determine annual department goals, objectives, and plans; prepare, prioritize, and monitor budget requests and expenditures; represent the department on administrative groups; communicate and implement university and system policy; recruit, hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate faculty; seek additional funding sources; espouse and practice principles of affirmative action and equal opportunity; keep current with new developments in their field; maintain involvement with professional organizations; and help advance the outreach mission of the University.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate degree, college level teaching and research experience in one of the department’s academic disciplines or closely related field; evidence of leadership abilities, solid communication skills, and strong interpersonal and team skills; track record of significant achievement in both teaching and research; demonstrated commitment to diversity; and credentials appropriate for tenure and rank of associate professor or full professor within the department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Currently tenured and experience in college-level administration, new program development, experience administering online education or teaching online; experience in leadership of general education; track record of success in grant writing and/or administration.

TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN ACCOUNTING
Business Department

POSITION:
Full-time, nine-month tenure-track position in accounting in the Business Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting August 17, 2015. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver high-quality undergraduate instruction on campus and online in the area of accounting; develop scholarly activity and research appropriate for a tenure-track position; provide program leadership in the accounting program; advise undergraduate students; develop working relationships with organizations and businesses to assist with internship and job placement; engage in various activities providing service to the department, institution and profession; and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary faculty whose focus is on the practical application of knowledge and technology.

TENURE-TRACK, PROGRAM DIRECTOR IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Math, Science, and Technology Department

POSITION: Full-time, nine-month tenure track position in Software Engineering in the Math, Science, and Technology Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting August 17, 2015. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position also includes a 3-month summer augmentation as Program Director of Software Engineering starting June 15, 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary for the augmentation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An excellent fringe benefits package is included.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver high-quality undergraduate instruction to students in the Software Engineering B.S. program, Information Technology Management B.S. program, and Health Informatics Certificate programs; advise students; establish his/her own research program, with a focus on software engineering; and maintain regular office hours on the Crookston Campus. Course topics (both on campus and on-line) include, but are not limited to, Data Warehousing and Mining, Database Management Systems, Programming, Discrete Structures, Software Construction, Software Design and Architecture, and Software Requirements Analysis. Responsibilities for the summer augmentation as Program Director include: Lead efforts to achieve and maintain ABET accreditation; lead the development of program goals and objectives; lead program assessment activities; lead and participate in recruitment and retention efforts; lead efforts to help expand our network with the industry to benefit programs, student experience, and student employment opportunities; manage internships; lead curriculum development; lead efforts in international collaborations which may involve international travel and include creating and maintaining articulation agreements; and establish, coordinate and lead the Program Improvement Advisory Committee.

FACULTY POSITION IN AGRICULTURAL AND NATURAL RESOURCE AVIATION
Agriculture and Natural Resources Department

POSITION:
Nine-month Teaching Specialist or Lecturer position (classification is dependent upon academic degree earned) within the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota beginning August 17, 2015. Salary will be dependent on qualifications and level of experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Provide program leadership to the established aviation program which combines agriculture, natural resources, and law enforcement with aviation. Provide support to existing programs in natural resources aviation, agricultural aviation, and natural resources law enforcement. (2) Deliver flight instruction and teach aviation academic courses such as, but not limited to: introduction to aviation, airplane aerodynamics, aircraft systems, basic attitude instrument flying, IFR procedures and policies, conventional aircraft operations, certified flight instructor, instrument certified flight instructor, conservation law enforcement, natural resources and law enforcement aviation applications, and agricultural application. (3) Advise undergraduate students in aviation programs. (4) Develop working relationships with agencies and organizations to assist with internship and permanent job placement. (5) Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary faculty whose focus is on the practical application of knowledge and technology.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B. S. plus 18 relevant graduate credits in an aviation related field, natural resource-related field, criminal justice, biology, or law degree; FAA certified flight instructor (CFI) certificate and instrument instructor rating for single engine airplanes; experience as aviator in agricultural application, natural resources, conservation law enforcement, general law enforcement, or substantial experience as Pilot in Command of Conventional Gear aircraft; strong communication skills; ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences and commitment to a polytechnic educational philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission.
