Regents Policy on Skateboarding and Rollerskating

Prohibitions

Section 1.

SKATEBOARDING. No person shall ride or operate a skateboard upon properties owned, leased or occupied by the Regents of the University, including but not limited to buildings, mall and plaza areas, sidewalks, streets, alleys, and parking facilities.

Section 2.

ROLLER SKATING. No person shall ride or operate roller skates upon properties owned, leased or occupied by the Regents of the University, except:

  1. in areas where bicycle traffic is permitted as defined under Ordinance No. 7, ARTICLE III, and
  2. in a prudent and careful manner, with reasonable regard to the safety of the operator and other persons.

Violations

Section 1.

PENALTY. Any person who operates a skateboard or roller skates in violation of the provision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor.

Section 2.

IMPOUNDMENT. Any police officer who observes a person violating this Ordinance is authorized to impound the person's skateboard or roller skates and to hold them at the University Police Department for a twenty-four (24) hour impoundment period.
