Golden Eagle Baseball Team to Close Out Season Against Southwest Minnesota State University

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team will close out the 2008 campaign on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 when they play host to Southwest Minnesota State University in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheaders at Jim Karn Field in Crookston, Minn. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday and 12:00 pm on Sunday.


The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 3-32 and NSIC record of 1-27. They are led by Jake Poehler (Fr, OF, Coon Rapids, Minn.) who is hitting .359 (37 for 103) with 19 runs batted in (RBI). Adam Lee (Fr, IF, Halstad, Minn.) is hitting .339 (20 for 59).


The Mustangs have an overall record of 20-18 and NSIC record of 10-12. They are led by Greg Laughlin who is hitting .414 (53 for 128) with 30 RBI.


Matt Morin (Sr, OF, East, Grand Forks, Minn.) and Beau Mertens (Sr, 1B/RHP, Motley, Minn.) will be playing their final games for the Golden Eagles.
