CROOKSTON, Minn. (June 6, 2008) – A regional memorial service for Stanley D. Sahlstrom, Ph.D., founding provost for the University of Minnesota, Crookston, will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 1 p.m., in Lysaker Gymnasium, on the Crookston campus located on Highway 2, 1 mile north of downtown Crookston, Minn. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. The service is being planned by the Sahlstrom family and is open to the community.

A St. Cloud memorial service will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, St. Cloud, Minn. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Benson Funeral Home in St. Cloud, Minn., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to: the Stanley D. Sahlstrom Agricultural Educational Fund at the University of Minnesota or the Stanley D. Sahlstrom Scholarship Fund at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

A private family internment is planned.

Sahlstrom is remembered for his vision, leadership and commitment to the campus, the community of Crookston, the region and the state. He led the transition of the Crookston campus from a residential high school to a 2-year technical college beginning in1965 and served as provost until 1985.
