Coyotes Stay Perfect in 3-0 Win Over Golden Eagles

(Vermillion, S.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston women’s volleyball team traveled to Vermillion, S.D. this afternoon for a non-conference match with the Coyotes of the University of South Dakota. USD, who has not lost a match this year, defeated the Golden Eagle 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-14) in the Dakota Dome.

Neither team brought much offense to the game as UMC finished with a .000 (22K-22E-88TA) attack percentage while USD could only muster a .167 (30K-14E-96TA) attack percentage in the match. Only one player recorded double-digit kills and South Dakota used 12 service aces to help them in a victory in which the Coyotes never trailed.

Heather Foreman (OH, 5’10, SR, Brandon, Manitoba) led the Golden Eagles with five kills. She was followed closely by Ashley Allen (OH, 6’0, JR, Buffalo, Minn.) and Katie Bonine (OH, 5’10, SO, Cottage Grove, Minn.) who both tallied four kills in the match. Bonine finished the match with a solid .333 (4K-0E-11TA) attack percentage. Cassie Yates (S, 5’10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) assisted on 13 of the Golden Eagle’s 22 kills.

South Dakota’s Heather Hult was the only player to score double-digit kills. She finished the match with 10 kills and a blistering .526 (10K-0E-19TA) attack percentage. Gina Baldwin assisted on 26 of the Coyotes 30 kills in the match. Amber Kobus added five service aces to lead all players and led all players defensively with 16 defensive digs.

The Golden Eagles are 0-9 overall this season and 0-0 in the NSIC. South Dakota moves to a perfect 10-0 overall this season. The University of Minnesota, Crookston travels to MSU Moorhead on Tuesday, September 16 to take on the Dragons. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
