Cassie Yates (Buffalo, Minn.) Records 3,000th Assist as a Golden Eagle

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Volleyball team recognized Cassie Yates (S, SR, 5’10, Buffalo, Minn.) on Friday, October 10, prior to their match against Wayne State College in Lysaker Gymnasium. Yates eclipsed the 3,000 career assists mark on Saturday, September 27 with a season high, 39 assist performance in a big 3-2 victory over St. Cloud State University.
 
Yates has tallied 107 assists since the SCSU match and now has 3,135 assists in her career. She is third all-time at the University of Minnesota, Crookston and follows only Jody Lunbohm who recorded 3,620 assists from 1996 to 1999 and Jamie Wolff who tallied 4,925 assists from 2001-2004.
 
Yates is majoring in elementary education with a minor in coaching. She is the daughter of Elgin and Susan Yates of Buffalo, Minn.
 
The Golden Eagles host MSU Moorhead on Saturday, October 18 in the “Dig for the Cure Match”. First server is set for 7 p.m. in Lysaker Gymnasium. The game can be seen live on the internet at Northern Sun TV (http://www.northernsun.tv/).
