Warriors Hold Golden Eagles to .089 Attack Percentage in 3-0 NSIC Victory

(Winona, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Women’s Volleyball team was unable to get the offensive momentum going today at McCown Gymnasium in Winona, Minn. UMC finished with 27 total kills, a .089 (27K-18E-101TA) team attack percentage and seven service errors as Winona State University (WSU) took the NSIC victory 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-18).
The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, SO, Paxton, Neb.) who finished the match with 10 kills and a .261 (10K-4E-23TA) attack percentage. Setter Cassie Yates (S, 5-10, SR, Buffalo, Minn.) tallied 22 assists to lead all setters in the match. Heather Foreman (OH, 5-10, SR, Brandon, Manitoba) led the team defensively for the second game in a row, finishing the match with 10 digs. Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, JR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) finished the match with seven digs and is now 22 digs away from 1,000 digs in her career.
Winona State’s Jessi Peterson led all attackers with 12 kills and a .440 (12K-1E-2TA) attack percentage. Jenna Padley finished with 10 kills as the only other Warrior with double-digit kills. Katie Matel assisted on 20 of the teams 41 kills and Shannon McGowan led all defenders with 14 defensive digs. As a team, Winona State totaled 8 service aces in the match.
The Golden Eagles fall to 3-19 overall and 3-10 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Warriors move to 8-15 overall and 6-8 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston returns to Lysaker Gymnasium for a five-match homestand. UMC opens with the University of Mary on October 31 and Northern State on November 1. Match times are set for 7:30 p.m. on the 31st and 4 p.m. on the 1st.
