(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer team wanted their final home game of the 2008 season to be a memorable one for their outgoing seniors. The Golden Eagles made sure that happened as they took care of business with a 4-0 shut-out victory over Wayne State College today in Crookston, Minn. in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action.

In an extremely cold and blustery day, U of M, Crookston was not to be denied. Justine Jones (Jr, Fwd/Mid, Richland, Wash.) scored at 20:00 of the game off an assist from Alysia Lucero (So, Def, Albuquerque, N.M.) to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0. The second half was all U of M, Crookston as they scored three goals. Kelsey Palmer (So, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) scored off an assist from Jones at 46:48. At 49:18, Jones made the score 3-0 off an assist from senior Alyssa Jensen (Sr, Fwd/Mid/Def, Rice Lake, Wis.). Megan Gibeault (So, Fwd, Green Bay, Wis.) closed out the scoring at 62:36 with an unassisted goal to give the Golden Eagles the 4-0 victory.

U of M, Crookston’s goaltending was stellar. Anna Ogaard (So, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.) and Leyla Castillo (So, GK, Miami, Fla.) combined on the shut-out recording one and two saves respectively.
