(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head men’s basketball coach Jeff Oseth announced today the signing of Damarius Cruz from Plymouth, Minn. to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2009-10 season.
Cruz is a 6-0, 175 lb, guard from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School in the Classic Lake Conference. He was a two-year team captain and was voted MVP by the team. "Without a doubt Damarius is one of the best guards in the state of Minnesota. He has another gear as far as his explosiveness and athleticism. He's also one of Robbinsdale Armstrong High School's all-time leading 3-point shooters and has the ability to shoot both off the pass and create his own shot off the dribble,” says coach Oseth. “He's an incredible defender who has been extremely well taught by his coaches at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. Damarius' work ethic is one that will make him among the elite guards in the NSIC.  We are absolutely ecstatic about having a player of Damarius' caliber joining the Golden Eagle family,” adds Oseth.

Cruz plans to major in computer science or sport & recreation management at the U of M, Crookston. He is the son of Rick and Theresa Baugh.
Cruz joins 6-6 forward, Mike Boebel of Marshall (WI) High School and 6-5 guard, Andrew Albers of Kimberly (WI) High School as early signees with Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball.
