Golden Eagle Hockey Team Hits the Road for Non-Conference Action

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey team will open the new year when they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for a pair of non-conference contests on Friday, January 2 and Saturday, January 3 respectively. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at UW-Stevens Point and 7:00 p.m. at UW-Eau Claire.

 

The Golden Eagles will look to break back into the win column after losing a pair of wild Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) contests at Concordia University (Wis.) back on December 12-13. U of M, Crookston lost 6-5 and 8-7. The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 1-12-0 and MCHA record of 1-9-0. They are led by Brent Swanson (Jr, Fwd, Mason City, Iowa) who has scored four goals and added eight assists for 12 points and Jonathan Frank (Fr, Def, Wallingford, Conn.) who has scored three goals and added five assists for eight points. Jacob Schira (Fr, G, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) has a 4.08 goals against average and a .877 saves percentage.

 

Golden Eagles @ UW-Stevens Point  Friday, January 2  7:30 p.m.

 

The Pointers have an overall record of 8-5-0 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) record of 2-4-0 after dropping a 6-2 non-conference game to Gustavus Adolphus on December 13. Jon Madden leads UW-Stevens Point with 11 goals and five assists for 16 points. Russell Law has scored nine goals and added four assists for 13 points. Thomas Speer has a 2.84 goals against average and a .886 saves percentage.

 

Golden Eagles @ UW-Eau Claire   Saturday, January 3  7:00 p.m.

 

The Blugolds have an overall record of 9-4-0 and NCHA record of 2-4-0 after defeating Bethel University 3-1 in non-conference action on December 13. They will host St. Olaf College on January 2. They are led by Sean Garrity who has nine goals and six assists for 15 points. Tyler Brigl has a 1.64 goals against average and a .926 saves percentage.
