Golden Eagles Baseball Games Switched to Winona State University

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston vs. Winona State University baseball games scheduled for Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 in Crookston, Minn. have been moved to Winona, Minn. due to poor weather and field conditions. Saturday’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. while Sundays’ will start at 12 p.m. U of M, Crookston will still be considered the home team.


The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 3-15 and NSIC record of 1-3 after last weekend’s series against St. Cloud State University. U of M, Crookston upset the Central Region’s fourth ranked Huskies 6-5 in 12 innings on Friday night. The Golden Eagles are led by Jake Poehler (So, OF, Coon Rapids, Minn.) who is batting .373 (19 for 51) with nine RBI. Casey Woodside (Fr, C, Albert Lea, Minn.) is hitting .326 (15 for 46) with 11 RBI. Kayle Lewellen (Sr, SS, Forest Lake, Minn.) is batting .310 (18 for 58) with nine RBI. Devin Croal (Fr, 2B, Coon Rapids, Minn.) is hitting .303 (20 for 66) with 13 RBI. Paul Krebs (Fr, OF/RHP, Little Falls, Minn.) is batting .278 (15 for 54) with 13 RBI. He is also 2-2 on the hill with a 2.25 ERA and 21 strikeouts.


Golden Eagles @ Winona State University Saturday/Sunday, March 28/29  1/12 p.m.


Coach Kyle Pook’s Warriors have an overall record of 6-7 after taking two of three games at Lewis University (Ill.) on March 14-15. This will be Winona State’s NSIC opener. The Warriors are led by Tony Mueller who is hitting .574 (27 for 47) with 13 RBI. Jared Anderson is hitting .316 (12 for 38). Ross Hellenbrand is 4-0 with a 2.49 ERA and 12 strikeouts.
