Dawnelle Askelson (Lake Park, Minn.) Signs with Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball

(Crookston, Minn.)- University of Minnesota, Crookston head women’s basketball coach Mike Roysland announced today the signing of Dawnelle Askelson to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles during the 2008-09 season.|
Askelson is a 5-11, guard from Lake Park-Audubon High School and a transfer from North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS). She is a four-year All-Conference selection in the Heart of Lakes Conference. Askelson was a 1,000 career point scorer, named a team MVP and recognized as the Best All Around player on her team.
“Dawnelle provides the Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball team with some great flexibility at many different positions on the court,” say Coach Roysland. “She is a double-threat as she has tremendous leaping ability and the ability to step out and hit the three point shot.”
Askelson plans to major in early childhood education at UMC. She is the daughter of Doug and Lauri Askelson.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is a NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
