UMC Names New Development Director
January 4, 2006

The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) announces the appointment of Corby Kemmer as the new director of development and alumni relations. He comes to UMC from the Mayville State University Foundation where he served as development associate and assistant director of the Comet Athletic Club. He was responsible for the annual fund drive at Mayville over the past three years and coordinated the Northwest Hall Renovation Project for the campus. His involvement with donor development will be an important aspect of his new role as development director at UMC.

Kemmer will oversee the activities of the UMC Office of Development and Alumni Relations by serving as the chief development officer, raise funds for various campus programs, assist with special events, and promote the Crookston campus. His role will include the direction of the UMC and Northwest School of Agriculture (NWSA) alumni relations programs including the Northwest Educational Improvement Association (NWEIA) along with the supervision of the major gift development programs and athletic fundraisers.

UMC Chancellor Charles H. Casey is pleased with the appointment, “Having a new director of development will fill a key position for UMC and will help to build a strong development team. With the increasing importance of private support for public institutions, Corby Kemmer will provide valuable leadership in attracting scholarship support for our students.”

UMC is a four-year baccalaureate degree granting institution and Kemmer’s appointment comes during the celebration of the campus centennial, which will conclude with commencement on May 6, 2006. Kemmer will begin serving in his new role as development director on January 17. His office will be located in 115 Kiehle Building.
