Altru Health System to Invest $22,500 in Scholarships at the University of Minnesota, Crookston

CROOKSTON, MN (May 5, 2006) – Altru Health System announced today that they are investing some $22,500 in students attending the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) as part of a five-year commitment for scholarship support.
At a ceremony on May 5, 2006, Altru Health System President Casey Ryan, M.D., CEO Greg Gerloff, and Physician Rolf Hanson, M.D., from Altru Clinic – Crookston, presented a check for $4500 to UMC Chancellor Charles H. Casey for the first three scholarships for fall semester 2006.
“Altru Health System is dedicated to helping students who are interested in pursuing a college degree with the financial means to achieve their goal,” said Ryan. “We are pleased to support the University of Minnesota, Crookston through our donation to their scholarship program.”
The commitment is the first major investment by Altru Health System at UMC and is an exciting development opportunity.
“Commitment and support from the corporate community are paramount in our efforts to attract and build a strong student body at the University of Minnesota, Crookston,” said Casey. “We are extremely pleased to have Altru Health System be our partner and support our strategies for providing an exceptional student experience.”
Qualifications for scholarships will be based on academic achievement and will look to help students who demonstrate an interest in working in a health-related field, at any level.
Others present at the scholarship announcement ceremony included Altru Health System Board of Directors Chair Judy Neppel and UMC Director of Development Corby Kemmer.
