June 12, 2006

CROOKSTON, MN (June 15, 2006) - The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1902 in Crookston added an additional $10,000 to their scholarship endowment at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). VFW Gaming Manager Bob Young stated that this donation, which brings the current endowment up to nearly $40,000, is part of the local VFW's ongoing community support of higher education.

"We enjoy getting letters from UMC's scholarship recipients," Young said. "It shows that our endowment dollars are being put to good use."

The VFW endowment supports several different program areas at UMC, including general academic scholarships with a preference for veterans, athletic scholarships, and veterans programs.

"My sincere thank you to the Crookston VFW Post 1902 for your continued commitment and support of UMC and its students," said Corby Kemmer, UMC development & alumni relations director. "This gift will have a positive and profound impact on the lives of UMC students for years to come."

The endowment is managed by the University of Minnesota, Crookston Office of Development & Alumni Relations.
