Elizabeth Tollefson Named Assistant Director of Communications at UMC

CROOKSTON, MN (July 11, 2006) – Communications and outreach efforts are expanding at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) by leveraging the talents of current employee Elizabeth Tollefson in the position of assistant director of communications.
A staff member with some eight years of service, Tollefson is a 2002 UMC alumna with experience in media relations, community relations, and campus outreach. She will continue in her successful role as project manager and editor of the Torch and Aggie alumni publications and will add a host of communications and public relations activities to her duties. Some of these include working with the campus community to promote activities, programs, and services and boosting UMC’s Web presence (UMCrookston.edu).
During the last several years, Tollefson led successful efforts to promote the inauguration of Chancellor Charles H. Casey and the dedication and grand opening of the new Student Center. She also was the weekly host for UMC Insight which airs Saturdays at 8:35 a.m. on KROX 1260 AM. She most recently served as UMC’s assistant director of development and alumni relations.
Tollefson holds a bachelor’s degree in scientific and technical communication from UMC and a master's in educational leadership from UND. She and her husband are long-time residents of the Crookston area.
