Michelle Christopherson

CROOKSTON, MN (July 17, 2006) – University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Center of Adult Learning Director Michelle Christopherson has been accepted into the University of Minnesota Women's Leadership Institute (WLI).  She will be joining a community of select women from the U of M who are committed to reflecting and learning together and have similar professional goals and diverse backgrounds.
The Women's Leadership Institute offers University women an opportunity to grow as leaders, and each year, a group of participants meets monthly to encourage self-reflection and learn from each other's skills and experiences. Members come from supervisory, management, and administrative leadership positions throughout the University, creating a unique learning community that continues beyond the duration of the program. Christopherson was nominated by former UMC Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Richard Nelson, Ph.D. An advisory committee reviewed applications and selected Christopherson to be part of the 25-member 2006 leadership group.
Women's Leadership Institute activities begin in September and end with a June reception for current and past participants. Key components of the year include a kick-off retreat, networking events with other women leaders, and annual all-WLI events for current and past participants.
Christopherson earned her bachelor’s in communications and broadcast journalism from Moorhead State University, Moorhead, Minn., an Instructional Systems Design Certificate from the University of Minnesota, Crookston, and holds a master’s in education instruction and curriculum from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn. Christopherson makes her home in Crookston, Minn., with her husband and two sons.
