Farrier Clinic Workshop to be held Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11, 2006, at UMC

CROOKSTON, MN (October 17, 2006) – A Farrier Clinic will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11, 2006, at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC). Registration may be completed online at Cost for the clinic is $150 and space is limited to 10 participants.
Hosting the event is Nicky Overgaard, instructor in UMC’s Equine Industries Management program. RaeAnn Bartz, professional farrier and clinician, will administer the clinic.
On Friday, Nov. 10, the clinic will run from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the University Teaching and Outreach Center (UTOC) in Room 130. Topics covered will include equine hoof and lower leg anatomy and physiology, hoof care and disease prevention, common diseases and problems associated with the equine hoof, trimming and shoeing techniques and tools used for basic trimming, cold and hot shoeing.
On Friday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the stable, participants will have the opportunity to learn the hands-on techniques associated with the proper trimming of the equine hoof.
