CROOKSTON, MN (December 5, 2006) – Thomas Baldwin vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) will travel to Taiwan from Dec. 7-17, 2006.  As a representative of the campus, he will visit seven universities over the course of five days.

A number of the universities have expressed an interest in developing relationships with UMC and are the result of work Baldwin has done with them in the past. Several of them have already expressed an interest in signing agreements of cooperation.

“This trip is an opportunity to continue the globalization of our campus and curriculum,” Baldwin said. “The relationships established should result in students coming to UMC from different areas of Taiwan.”

The visit to Taiwan, along with recent trips by UMC staff to China and Korea, are part of an effort by UMC to offer global and diverse cultural experiences for students. Establishing international partnerships is an important part of the campus strategic positioning effort.
