CROOKSTON, Minn. (December 21, 2006) – University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Chancellor Emeritus Donald Sargeant who most recently served as the director of international programs at UMC was recently honored at a retirement party. Under his direction, international student enrollment has increased on campus from 29 in fall 2005 to 59 in fall 2006 and that number is expected to exceed 100 when spring semester resumes in January 2007. Sargeant, who served as UMC’s chancellor from 1985 to 2003, came to the campus in 1970 serving first as chair of the ag division, and later as academic dean a position he held until becoming chancellor.
