CROOKSTON, Minn. (April 9, 2007) – In an effort to put information and resources right at the fingertips of students at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC), Counseling and Career Services and UMC Library services are teaming up to make even more resources available on-line.

Mindful that students expect and are accustomed to accessing material day or night via the Web, UMC is reorganizing directories, job postings, books, CDs and handouts into digital formats.

The effort is a part of a continuing process to in integrate career resources into the classroom and enhance a resounding 93-percent job placement rate for UMC graduates.

Key components of the effort include providing career and library services on-line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and creating resource pages to provide timely information and establish collaborations to incorporate Career and Library services into the curriculum and the UMC learning environment.

Newly organized collections will include information on careers and occupations, salary statistics, the labor market and trends, job-search strategies as well as directories and information on post-graduate studies.

The move will also enhance networking with area colleges to organize job and internship fairs, other University of Minnesota career offices and other libraries. This information will be available to all UMC constituencies – students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni.
