CROOKSTON, Minn. (June 7, 2007) –
The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) is hosting the annual West Polk County Relay for Life on June 15-16.  Activities will take place on the campus mall starting at 6 p.m. Friday night and will Relay for Life through the night until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

Relay for Life is an overnight event designed to help raise money for the local and national American Cancer Association to help fund programs and research for cancer, as well as promote survivorship among people.  People rally to fairgrounds, college campuses, and parks to unite against cancer.  Each team tries to keep one person from their team on the track at all times.  Co-captains for UMC’s Golden Eagle team are Michelle and Trish Ramstad.

Activities this year include a motorcycle poker run, starting in Crookston and going to area towns such as Grand Forks, Fisher, and Climax.  If you would like to participate, please meet at the UMC parking lot around 5:30 on Friday night.  Silent auctions are going to be held at each team location.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a cooperative sponsor for this event up to $1,000.  Many other activities are established throughout the night designed to keep people motivated.
