Golden Eagle Women’s Volleyball Team Hangs Tough But Drops 3-0 Match to # 3 Concordia-St. Paul

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagle Women’s Volleyball team squared off with the third ranked Golden Bears of Concordia- St. Paul at home this evening. After a rough outing last night, the Golden Eagles came out more determined for this match, but a young and talented Concordia- St. Paul team was on their game. A good team effort of digs for Concordia- St. Paul kept the Golden Eagles from being able to put up some points that could have changed the outcomes of the games. The University of Minnesota, Crookston was defeated in three games by scores of 30-23, 30-17 and 30-26.


Katie Bonine (Fr., OH, Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Theresa Crance (Sr., MH, Timberlake, S.D.) each recorded seven kills in the Golden Eagles effort. Crance also added five block assists and had a .350 attack percentage. Heather Foreman (Jr., OH, Brandon, Manitoba) had six kills and ten defensive digs. Cassie Yates (Jr., Setter, Buffalo, Minn.) recorded 28 set assists.


For the Golden Bears, Whitney Meierotto and Mary Slinger combined for 34 defensive digs. They recorded over half of the team total of 60. Sadie Kesler also had a good solid outing chalking up 13 kills.


The Golden Eagles are now 2-10 overall and 0-4 in the NSIC. The Concordia- St. Paul Golden Bears have a season record of 13-1 and are 4-0 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston will return to action against the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux in Grand Forks on the Tuesday, September 18. Game time is 7:00 pm.
