University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer Team Hits the Road Saturday and Sunday

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women’s Soccer team hits the road this Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Southwest Minnesota State University (Saturday) and Wayne State College (Sunday) for their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) games of the season. Both games start at 1:00 pm.

 

The Golden Eagles are coming off two losses this past weekend. On Saturday, Northern State University opened a 4-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat U of M, Crookston by a score 7-1. On Sunday, the Golden Eagles played an inspired second half holding the University of Mary scoreless, but the Mary’s two first half goals were all they needed in a 2-0 victory.

 

U of M, Crookston is 2-8-0 on the season. They are led by Kelsey Palmer (Fr., Fwd./Mid., Crookston, Minn.) who has four goals and two assists for ten points. Athena Mussenden (So., GK., Kenosha, Wis.) has a 1.50 goals against average and a .839 saves percentage.

 

Southwest Minnesota State University is 1-7-1 on the season after defeating Upper Iowa University on Saturday (3-1) but losing to Winona State University on Sunday (1-0). The Mustangs are led by Ellen Diekemper (Fr., Mid./Fwd., Lincoln, Neb.) who has two goals and one assist for five points.

 

Wayne State College has a record of 0-6-2 on the season after dropping games to Winona State University (5-0) and Upper Iowa University (2-0) last Saturday and Sunday respectively.
