(Fond du Lac, Wis.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey team exploded onto the scene in Fond du Lac, Wis. scoring three goals in the first seven minutes of the game. The Sabres woke up the sticks and scored a shorthanded goal at the 6:22 mark of the first and went on to score six more goals in the game while holding the Golden Eagles to just one more goal for the 7-4 victory.

The Golden Eagles continue to find offense from several players as four different players scored for UMC tonight. Brett Saari (Jr., F, Green Bay, Wis.) started the scoring at the 3:06 mark of the first period to give UMC a first period lead. He was assisted by Bill Horton (Fr., F, New Hartford, NY) and Teal Plaine (Sr., F, Hallock, Minn.). John Lombardi (So., F, Apple Valley, Minn.) added to the lead just 71 seconds later on the power-play when he beat the Marian goalie for a two goal lead. Eddie Hanson (Fr., F, Apple Valley, Minn.) and Alex Maginnis (Fr., F, Mason City, Iowa) assisted on the goal. Teal Plaine closed out the first period scoring for the Golden Eagles when he found the back of the Sabre net on the power-play. He was assisted by Brent Groenke (Sr., D, Morden, Manitoba) and Matt Waclawik (So., F, Gergus Falls, Minn.). Matt Waclawik got into the scoring with just over two minutes left in the second period when he took a pass from Teal Plaine who finished the night with three points.

Carl Bresser led the Sabres with two goals and one assist in the game. James Goodfellow added an empty net goal and two assists in the Marian victory.

The Golden Eagles are 0-5 on the season and 0-3 in the MCHA. Marian is now 3-3 on the season.  The two teams wrap up the series on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The team returns home on November 27 to host Concordia-Moorhead in non-conference play. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. at the Crookston Civic Arena.
