(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team will start practice for the 2008 season on Monday, January 14. Practice will run from 6:00-8:30 pm on Monday – Thursday and 3:00-5:00 pm on Fridays. The Golden Eagles will open their 2008 schedule on Thursday, February 28 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. with a non-conference doubleheader against Northland College of Ashland, Wis.

Head Coach Chris Vito enters his first season and is excited to get going. “We had a good fall session and followed that up with solid individual workouts,” says Coach Vito. “It may seem like a long way off, but our first games will be here before we know it. If we continue to supply the work ethic that we showed this fall and play solid fundamental baseball, we should show improvement with every game.”

The Golden Eagles will open their 2008 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) season on Thursday, March 20 and Friday, March 21 when they take on Bemidji State University in Minneapolis, Minn. at the NSIC Metrodome Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm respectively.
