U of M, Crookston Western Equestrian Coach Nicky Overgaard is looking forward to having some “home field” advantage. “We are currently standing second in the region with overall team points,” says Coach Overgaard. “We can close the gap if we have a strong show at home. Anytime we are at home riding our own horses, it is a big plus for our riders.”

Coach Overgaard has seen her athletes go through some solid practices and is looking for a few riders to qualify for regionals at the U of M, Crookston Competition. Rachel Muise (Sr, Ojai, Cal.) is close to pointing out of the Advanced Horsemanship Division while Jessica Hanson (So, Andover, Minn.) is one ribbon away from pointing up into the Novice Division. Gretchen Lucken (Fr, Greenwald, Minn.) finished her last show very strong and is hoping for a strong performance riding the U of M, Crookston horses. Sheena Engelbert (Sr, Bruce Crossing, Mich.) has moved up a division into the Open Rail and Reining Division. Coach Overgaard expects a solid performance from her as well.
