Golden Eagle Hockey Team Looks to Rebound After Tough Weekend

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey team hopes get back in the win column after dropping two close Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) games to Lawrence University this past Friday and Saturday. The Vikings took Friday’s game by a 5-3 score and Saturday’s contest by an 8-7 score in overtime.


The Golden Eagles will host Finlandia University in MCHA games this coming weekend. The puck drops at 7:30 pm on Friday, February 8 and 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 9 at the Crookston Civic Arena.


U of M, Crookston looks to avenge a pair of losses to the Lions back on December 7 and 8. Finlandia took both games in Hancock, Mich. by scores of 5-2 and 6-3. The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 5-16-0 and 4-12-0 in the MCHA. They are led by Alex Maginnis (Fr, Fwd, Mason City, Iowa) who has 11 goals and four assists for 15 points. Teal Plaine (Sr, Fwd, Hallock, Minn.) has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. Matt Hann (Sr, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) has nine goals and three assists for 12 points while Ryan Tucker (Sr, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) has seven goals and four assists for 11 points.


Finlandia University has an overall record of 12-7-2 and MCHA record of 11-5-0 after sweeping a series from Northland College by scores of 10-1 and 9-0. Finlandia is led by Mike Parks who has 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points. He is followed by Josh Paquette who has seven goals and 23 assists for 30 points.
