(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey team will close out the regular season at home this weekend when they play host to Northland College on Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) games at the Crookston Civic Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 pm and 4:05 pm respectively.
U of M, Crookston looks to avenge a pair of losses to the Lumberjacks back on January 11 and 12. Northland College took both games in Ashland, Wis. by scores of 4-3 and 8-0. The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 5-18-0 and 4-14-0 in the MCHA after dropping a home series to Finlandia University by scores of 5-2 and 3-1. They are led by Alex Maginnis (Fr, Fwd, Mason City, Iowa) who has 11 goals and four assists for 15 points. Teal Plaine (Sr, Fwd, Hallock, Minn.) has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. Matt Hann (Sr, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) has 10 goals and three assists for 13 points while Ryan Tucker (Sr, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) has seven goals and five assists for 12 points.
Northland College has an overall record of 3-20-0 and MCHA record of 3-15-0 after dropping a series to Lawrence University by scores of 6-3 and 5-0. The Lumberjacks are led by Tony Huberty who has four goals and nine assists for 13 points. He is followed by Nick Matson who has seven goals and four assists for 11 points. Jeff Diehl has two goals and eight assists for 10 points.
U of M, Crookston will honor its six seniors prior to Friday night’s game. They are #9-Brent Groenke (Def, Morden, Manitoba, Canada), #10-Teal Plaine (Fwd, Hallock, Minn.), #13-Matt Hann (Fwd, Crookston, Minn.), #15-Steve Zutz (Def/Fwd, Thief River Falls, Minn.), #27-Ryan Tucker (Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) and Jaden Isakson (G, Bismarck, N.D.).
