Golden Eagles Head to Marian College for First Round of MCHA-Harris Cup Playoffs

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Hockey team will hope to ride the momentum of their 4-2 victory over Northland College in Saturday’s regular season finale as they head into the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA)-Harris Cup playoffs. The Golden Eagles will travel to Fond du Lac, Wis. to face-off against Marian College on Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23. The puck drops at 7:00 pm and 4:30 pm respectively. If necessary, a mini-game will immediately follow Saturday’s game.

 

U of M, Crookston finished the regular season with an overall record of 6-19-0 and MCHA record of 5-15-0 which was good for sixth place. The Golden Eagles are led by Matt Hann (Sr, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) who has 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points. Teal Plaine (Sr, Fwd, Hallock, Minn.) has four goals and 15 assists for 19 points. Alex Maginnis (Fr, Fwd, Mason City, Iowa) has 13 goals and four assists for 17 points. Ryan Tucker (Sr, Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) has 10 goals and six assists for 16 points.

 

Marian College has an overall record of 15-9-1 and MCHA record of 14-5-1 which was good for second place behind regular season champion Adrian College. The Sabres are led by Carl Besser who has 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points and James Goodfellow who has nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points.

 

Marian College swept the regular season series with U of M, Crookston by 7-4 and 7-1 scores back on November 16-17 in Fond Du Lac, Wis.
