Golden Eagle Hockey Season Comes to an End at the Hands of Marian College

(Crookston, Minn.) – Marian College scored three power play goals and went on to end the University of Minnesota, Crookston’s Hockey season via a 3-1 victory today in Fond du Lac, Wis. in the MCHA-Harris Cup Playoffs.


The Sabres opened the scoring at15:41of the first period when Carl Bresser scored a power play goal. Marian College took a 2-0 lead off a Kyle Jones power play goal at 3:02 of the second period. The Golden Eagles closed the gap to 2-1 at 6:42 of the second period when Matt Marchel (So, Def, Grand Forks, N.D.) scored a power play goal off an assist from Collin Perry (So, Fwd, Grand Forks, N.D.). Unfortunately, the Sabres closed out the games scoring at 11:40 of the second period when Bresser scored his second power play goal of the game.


The Sabres advance to the MCHA-Harris Cup Final Four next weekend. The Golden Eagles end the season with an overall record of 6-21-0. They bid farewell to six seniors: Brent Groenke (Def, Morden, Manitoba, Canada), Teal Plaine (Fwd, Hallock, Minn.), Matt Hann (Fwd, Crookston, Minn.), Steve Zutz (Def/Fwd, Red Lake Falls, Minn.), Ryan Tucker (Fwd, Crookston, Minn.) and Jaden Isakson (G, Bismarck, N.D.).
