Advisory and PIAC > All-Campus Advisory Committee
All-College Advisory Committee (ACAC)


Purpose
They can connect the vision and mission of the campus to the community where they live and work. Their external perspective will help the campus ensure current programs and initiatives are meeting the priorities of the individuals, groups, organizations and businesses they interact with.

Responsibilities of Members

  • Provide comments and insight about programs and services UMC has or should consider
  • Assist and advise on recruitment of students, faculty and staff. Marketing advice is particularly helpful
  • Advocate for the University with local, state and national policy makers
  • Help identify donors that may be willing to provide financial support for scholarships, programs or buildings
  • Offer advice to the Chancellor on specific issues
  • Commit to attend meetings as often as possible

Criteria used for members include:

  • Familiarity with the campus i.e. graduate, donor, employer, policy maker, experience as a board member.
  • Nomination for members solicited from current and former members, campus faculty and staff, alumni board members. Chancellor makes the appointment.

“Being a member of the ACAC keeps me aware of innovative, new program offerings, technology being used, and student demographics, etc. at UMC so I am better able to share this information with local Crookston Citizens.  Following retirement, I continue to attend numerous campus events; and I hope to contribute to ACAC from the perspective of a local resident who is committed to the success of UMC.I enjoy the opportunity to join friends and former UMC students to share in the commitment to keep UMC among the region’s best academic Post-secondary institutions.”

Worked for the Natural Resource Department and Experiment Station at the University of Minnesota, Crookston from 1973-1977.  A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Crookston with a degree in Natural Resources, he has received the Outstanding Alumni Award, and Torch & Shield Award.

“I enjoy being on the All College Advisory Committee because it allows me to keep informed about UMC and to engage in discussions that give feedback to the administrators and educators about many aspects that can help shape the future of UMC.”

I have been involved with UMC since 1979 as a former student and then community partner on different advisory boards, and leadership groups.   
Why do you serve on the ACAC?
“We are so lucky to have UMC located within Crookston; the economic impact to our community is outstanding.  I serve on the ACAC to be more knowledgeable and a better advocate for UMC.   Engaging with the college is important from a community stand point.  I am proud to be a part of ACAC.”

While living in Crookston I became involved with a variety of UMC committees; ACAC, Teambackers,  Career & Counseling PIAC, participated with the S.I.F.E. Advisory Committee and served on a Chancellor Search Committee. 
Why do you serve on the ACAC?

“I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to be associated with the quality people that make up UMC.  I appreciate being involved with UMC because of the key role it has in northwestern Minnesota and beyond.  It may be a small campus but together, with the commitment of the leadership, faculty, staff, students and surrounding community, it has a tremendous impact.  I’ve been impressed since my first visit to campus and I look forward to seeing what’s next for this small campus with the big degree.”
